Welcome to Poole in Bloom open gardens 2025

Open Gardens 2025

Open Gardens 2025

Open Gardens 2025

We invite you to Poole In Blooms’ Open Gardens 2025.

8 beautiful gardens will be opening to the public on the 29th June from 10am.

Some of the gardens are having a plant sale with proceeds going to Poole In Bloom itself, a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers for the benefit of Poole.

Come and be inspired!

Poole In Bloom is a not for profit organisation and run by a committee of volunteers.

If you would like to find out more about the committee or would like to help out with judging the gardens please either give your details to one of the garden hosts or email enquiries@pooleinbloom.co.uk

How it Works

Open Gardens 2025

Open Gardens 2025

Each visitor will require an Open Gardens Passport which you will be asked to present to each garden, where it will get  stamped.

Passport Cost:

£5.00 in advance (contact Poole In Bloom Secretary Jason 07906324580 or enquiries@pooleinbloom.co.uk before 22nd June)

£8.00 on the day in any of the gardens.

It does not matter which order you visit the gardens, so long as you get a stamp of entry for each of the 8 gardens. You will earn a free, quintessentially English cup of tea served with a scone, strawberry jam and clotted cream which will be served in garden number 8.

The Poole In Bloom Committee would like you to for come along and share the joys of gardening and hopefully pick up some design and planting ideas you can pop into your own garden in time for the next Poole In Bloom competition.

Gardens 1 - 3

Open Gardens 2025

Gardens 1 - 3

Garden 1

Your hosts are David and Pam.

31 Princess Road, Branksome, Poole BH12 1BG

A delightful, small front garden which won the Poole In Bloom prize in 2022, there is a conservatory with cacti, a fish pond, patio, containers, planters and hanging baskets along with a formal bedding.

Plant sale (cash only), limited parking on Princess Road. Level access, pond.

Garden 2

Coy pond.

Coy Pond Road, Branksome Poole BH12 1HX

With over 1200 volunteered hours per year, the gardens around coy pond are not only prizewinners with Poole In Bloom but maintained spectacularly. Keep an eye out for the small areas of interest around the pond. Probably the longest rock garden in Poole is spectacular even when not in bloom (it should look amazing at the end of June.)

Parking on the road, cash only, pond.

Garden 3

St Aldhelms Church Jubilee Garden.

Lindsay Road, Poole, BH12 1AD (Church Hall)

A lovely space which has won Poole In Bloom previously. The garden has fruit trees, an established herbaceous border with seating available if you need a rest. A lovely little gem of a garden tucked away between two busy roads.

Parking available in St Aldhelms Church Hall car park, cash only.

Gardens 4 - 5

Gardens 6 - 6A

Gardens 1 - 3

Garden 4

Your Hosts are Sandy and Ian Primrose

21 Kimberley Road, Poole BH14 8SQ

The years of dedication to this garden are more than evident. A Japanese influence with the planting leading up to a pond at the top of the garden, home to some magnificent koi carp (bridge not safe), seating is available here. On the way back down the garden take note of the baskets and mulberry tree on the right as you descend.

Parking on the road, one small step into the garden, book sale, cash only, pond.

Garden 5

Hosts are Diana and John. 20 Nightjar Close, Poole, BH17 7YN.

A small heathland fringe garden, with a mature canopy of trees and shrubs providing a habitat for wildlife, full of colour texture and scent for the senses.

No dogs, cash only, level access, parking on the road

Gardens 6 - 6A

Garden 6

Oakdale Library Gardens.

 Wimborne Road, Poole BH15 3EF

Wrapping around the library this space has been lovingly created and maintained. Also open for the national gardens scheme the garden has a children’s area with a very small wildlife pond, a memorial garden with roses and a children’s activity area.

Onsite parking available, level access, cash only.

Garden 6A

Your host Ray Alderton.

5 Blackburn Road, BH12 3LQ

*ONLY OPEN 2 - 4.30 PM*

A residential wildlife garden. You will be greeted at the front of the property by a vegetable / produce garden. Around at the rear great care is taken to protect and look after the natural wildlife . There is a pond (please do not cross the bridge as it is unstable) then hidden behind a hedge are some of the healthiest raspberries I have seen!

Parking available on the road, level access to the right of the drive, cash only, pond.

Gardens 7 - 8

Garden 7

Your host is Janet Bulstrode.

Rose Cottage, 8 Wolesley Road, Parkstone, BH12 2DP

A lovely wrap around residential garden with a small pond, greenhouse and mature 6” climbing plants and arch to a smaller garden with lavender and a woven willow tree.

Restricted parking on the road, level access, book and plant sale, cash only, pond.

Garden 8

Your hosts are Jason and Ming.

52 Sterte Esplanade, Sterte, Poole BH15 2BA

This garden faces the constant battle of wind and salt water spray from Holes Bay however the passion for plants wins out here. Protected by a large hedge, there is a raised pond with a window and wide variety of unusual plants and fruit all seamlessly combined. Last year Jason won the Poole In Bloom award for best small front garden and best Small Back Garden.

Refreshments, plant sale, 5 stamp free cream tea. Limited parking available, single yellow lines can be parked on. Cards accepted. Steps to the front however level access can be arranged at the rear.

Tips to make your day perfect!

Don't forget:

* Dress for the weather, include sunhats, sun lotions, comfortable shoes and, heaven forbid if its wet, a waterproof jacket and a warm jumper.

* Be mindful that many plants are poisonous, so care should be taken when touching them.

* Bring a notepad and camera, as its easy to forget the ideas you get on such a busy day.

* Don’t forget your card and some cash to make the most of the plant sales and to buy refreshments and of course a bag to carry any purchases!

* Plan your route carefully.

* Check what’s on offer for each garden so you will be prepared for each site.

* Car share where possible and check parking restrictions, it is a Sunday so they will be different in many locations, and please be patient as the areas will be busy at certain times.

* Please don’t take cuttings or pick flowers, the gardens have been

generously opened by the hosts in aid of Poole In Bloom and many of them  will be up for judging within the next few weeks.

* Toilets aren't available in any of the gardens, however the hosts will be able to point you in the direction of the nearest public conveniences.

* And finally, have a lovely day celebrating Poole In Blooms’ second open gardens scheme.
